Blind item answer
Thanks to those who guessed. Tanzya gets a prize for being the first Kiwi to guess ( it is in the mail) but YellowRose gets the virtual 10 points for being first to answer right.
My mystery actress was indeed Cheryl Hines of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame, funnily enough on the flight over Mark and I had both watched RV which starred Robin Williams and Cheryl as his wife.
The picture came about because Cheryls dress looked like this from behind.
After the actual Emmys were over we were waiting in the huge long queues to have our car paged and saw Cheryl standing talking to some friends. Her back was to us, so I told Mark quick take a picture of her dress for the girls ( as in Rebecca and Sarah)
Of course as soon as he went to do it she turned around and saw Mark holding up his phone like a prat haha. I quickly said oh sorry we were just taking a picture for our daughters of your dress, which is why you wore such a great "from behind" dress right ? Cheryls friend then more or less grabbed the phone off Mark and said here quick I will take a picture for you with Cheryl.
We never would have asked, it really is not cool or the done thing to look all fanlike at an event of this nature. I am a huge Curb your Enthusiasm fan so we said ok.
Hence you have the ONLY ( incredibly blurred) picture of us with anyone of note on the actual red carpet.
Ten minutes after this I sort of embarassed myself with Martin Sheen but that story can wait.

Good for YellowRose....! It is odd but there was something strange about the picture (No, I don't mean becayuse it was out of focus...lol) And I dudn't think it was Cheryl Hines! And if you told me this story, well....It left the memory bank...But I do not think you did tell it to me....!
Anyway....I LOVE IT!
ah very good, I wasn't thinking her, but she's cool. I've seen Larry David walking at an outdoor mall in Los Angeles, didn't get a photo tho

It's nice that Cheryl was very cool about the photo taking. At least whe wasn't a snobby actress!!
