All the world loves a clown

Apparently I am the mother of the class clown, well in this case officially a class "comedian". Joel found out last night that he has been selected for the 2008 Class comedian workshops. It is a pretty intense two months of workshops with some of New Zealands best comedians and culminates in a performance here CLASS COMEDIANS
He is justifiably proud to have been chosen as they only select one student from each participating school.

You can read more about the programme at the official website http://www.classcomedians.co.nz/

Macleans Class Comedians provides an extra-curricular learning opportunity for senior secondary school-age performers in the comedy genre. In a nutshell - we teach funny kids how to do it proper!

The Class Comedians program is an initiative of the NZ Comedy Trust. Since it's beginnings in 2001, over 135 students have been officially deemed hilarious. This 3 month programme combines the experience and know-how of pro comics and industry experts to deliver a well-rounded introduction to the comedy industry. The highlight of the programme is a showcase performance as part of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

http://www.myspace.com/davewiggins is the main tutor who will be working with the kids this year. He is originally from Gorham, Maine and is New Zealands top clean comedian, in other words did we have to import him ? I totally agree with him on the marmite issue though, gag.Watch this clip for a great perspective on being an American living here.

This afternoon I have to take Joel to an audition for a commercial, it is way over the other side of town and we are going to get caught in the wonderful heavy traffic on the way home.
I can't say what it is for but it is for the US market so the money is as always great for one days work.
At the moment we are having "discussions" as to if he needs to take math next year, his argument is something along the lines of thanks a lot Mum I got your acting, singing, funny genes but I also got your math genes. I am not sure I can really argue with that one.

Sounds like Joel is really doing well for himself! Class comedian workshop and a commercial audition? Good for him (and you too!) The world can always use another funny person.

He'd better still take that math course though. ;)

Tell Joel to Break a Leg.

Congratulations!
Oh - tell him that he's going to need the math - He'll need it to cook and to help him count his millions.
